Instructor to take on ultra-endurance mountain bike race.

Regular Cycle Experience Bikeability instructor, and mountain bike racer, Aidan Harding is planning to take on one of the toughest mountain bike races in the world. The Tour Divide starts on June 11 in Banff, Canada and finishes in Antelope Well, New Mexico. In between, it crosses 2,700 miles, right through the Rocky Mountains.

The race is unsupported and run in one long stage. Participants choose when and where to sleep, typically covering 150 miles of off-road riding per day. It requires skills in both riding and outdoor survival as there is no safety net, just a daily check-in by phone when possible. With good weather, it
should take around 20 days to complete.

Working with Police to reduce riding on pavements.

Cycle Experience have been offering free cycle training to adults who live, work or study in the London Borough of Harrow for several years. Now, we are working with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team of the MET Police to deal withpeople who ride on pavements.

Riding on the pavement is against the law and can lead to a fixed penalty of £30, but many people do so to avoid “dangerous” traffic. Police in Harrow will now be dealing with this constructively, by encouraging pavement cyclists to get some free cycle training.
